Christoph Niemann is an award winning  illustrator who’s work has appeared in, and on the cover of, a variety of publications including The New Yorker, Newsweek, Wired, The New York Times Magazine and American Illustration. A Short Visual History of Videogames

Filing this post in the “just plain old fun” category,  this brief video by Kyle Downes runs through this history of videogames (or more accurately, video gaming systems). Created as a school project everything in the video was built from the ground up by Kyle using a combination of Maya 8.5, After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash.
It all comes together as a great example of visual story telling:
