Coming Soon: VizTalk – A New VizThink Podcast… Submit your Work!

In the next few weeks we’ll be introducing a new podcast called “VizTalk” featuring VizThink facilitators Karl Gude & Dave Gray.

It’s an entirely new format for us where Dave & Karl will be offering up their expertise and advice through the process of reviewing and commenting on the work of fellow visual thinkers like yourself. The podcast will look at a variety of topics over time but for the first one Karl & Dave will be reviewing your PowerPoint (or Keynote) presentations and offering their feedback & suggestions.

So, if you’ve got a presentation (or part of a presentation) that you’d be interested in getting feedback on we want to hear from you!

Send an email, with your presentation attached, to viztalk@vizthink.com with the subject line “VizTalk Submission” – be sure to include your name, location and email address.

I’m sure some of you have questions – so here’s my stab at what I would expect:

“Are they just going to dump all over my work?”
This is all about helping share their expertise with the broader community, not trashing or dumping on people’s work. Both Dave & Karl are a lot of fun and want to help improve people’s skills, not take them down a peg – the tone of this podcast will be upbeat, positive & constructive.

That said, if all your work is “perfect” and you don’t take feedback well – this is probably not the podcast for you to submit work to. This show is about growing, not showing.

What format should I send my files in?
We highly recommend sending your presentation in PDF format to avoid platform, version or font issues with the source files. Both Dave & Karl can open Powerpoint or Keynote files but the reality is, if there are issues they will probably just move on to the next one.

Keep in mind these presentations will be shown & commented on in a publicly available podcast so be mindful of any confidential data displayed in the slides. Be sending us your presentation you are assumed to be giving us permission to share and distribute (within our podcast) the presentation in a public venue.

When do I need to Submit my files by?
To be considered for the next podcast all submissions must be received by 11:59 EST on Friday August 29, 2008.

How Many Presentations will be featured?
The number of presentations reviewed will depend on # of submissions, how much Dave & Karl talk about each one and time – so basically, no idea.
