Why should you come to VizThink ’09? What could you learn? What will you be able to do with what you learn? These are all great questions, and while we certainly can help with those answers (check out the visual we created for VizThink ’08), it’s always interesting to see the answers directly from some of our previous attendees. During the last general session in Berlin, we posed those same 3 questions to our attendees in an exercise using index cards. Here’s representative sample of the many responses we received:

Card 1  Card 2

Card 3  Card 4

Card 5  Card 6

(You can check out even more examples from our post from VizThink ’08).

So, if you want to:
- Meet new people like you from around the world
- Share ideas from a variety of visual disciplines
- Discover new tools, tips, and techniques in hands on sessions
- Understand the global possibilities for visualization
- Become part of and help advance a global visual community and movement
then VizThink ’09 is for you. You walk away with many ideas that can be applied immediately when you return to your home and to your work. VizThink is an experience you will never forget.

VizThink ’09 is on February 22-25, 2009 in San Jose, California. Be sure to register now to receive the best rate. Early registration ends in less than two weeks.

Hello, In my writing class I am writing a research paper on new trends in the comic book industry. I know that visuals, such as comic books and graphic novels, are becoming useful tools in education and was wondering if anybody had any information on that subject. Thanks, it is greatly appreciated.

Scot, here’s a link you might find valuable. http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/small_00.html

Google has created a new service and created a comic book of instructions. You could potentially use this as a case study for your paper. Google stays on the pulse of current trends and one of those is definitely the shift towards visual thinking and analysis. That would be a good place to start. Good luck!
