[Podcast] Visual Miscellaneum: An Interview with David McCandless

20 November 2009 484 views Comments

vismiscEarlier this week I got on the phone with David McCandless, author of The Visual Miscellaneum, his new book of visualizations of ‘the world’s most consequential trivia”. During the conversation we discussed how the idea for the book came about, his creative process and whole other host of topics. Perhaps the most interesting thing that I learned in the conversation is that a couple of years ago David wouldn’t have considered himself a designer – which, once you’ve seen some of his work, might convince even the biggest doubter in their own drawing abilities that any one can draw.

The Visual Miscellaneum is available now in North America, and will be available in the UK/Europe early next year (February 4th) under the title “Information is Beautiful”.

Get your copy today through the VizThink bookstore (powered by Amazon) and be sure to check out David’s blog “Information is Beautiful” for more of his visual work.

ryan: very nice new site for VizThink - I had run across David McCandless and his work - your interview is a good extension of what I found out about him. What tool are you using for these podcasts?
