Sunni Brown and the Doodle Revolution: a TEDx talk
Recently, VizThinker Sunni Brown gave a talk as part of a TEDx event held at the University of Texas at Austin – centered on the topic of visual note-taking, Sunni laid out the case for why incorporating visuals into one’s note-taking process has benefits for listening, comprehension, retention, and creativity. Over the past year or so, we’ve seen more and more interest in visual note-taking and Sunni is now trying to harness that momentum in what she’s calling “The Doodle Revolution”.
At, as Sunni calls it, “parent TED” they have a portion of the event focused on letting someone turn to the community and put their “TED Wish” out into the world. Never one to miss an opportunity, Sunni decided to throw out her own “TEDx Wish” during her talk:
“… that we take doodling and visual thinking, out of the realms of designers and artists and put it into the realms of academia and business and government … and that doodling is not a distraction, it’s a tool.”
Or, in short, ‘Create a Doodle Revolution’.
Watch Sunni make her case in her talk, which has been embedded below:
Of course, if you want to get a head start on the revolution, be sure to check out our VizThinkU session, Visual Note-taking 101 – three full hours of content with Sunni, Austin Kleon and Mike Rohde where you’ll learn the basics of visual note-taking along with tips & tricks that let even those of you who think you can’t draw make beautiful, effective notes.
