The Noun Project screen captureIf it’s not already on your radar, you’ll want to know about this fantastic digital clearinghouse amassing free symbols for the masses: The Noun Project

Started by California creative Edward Boatman — with support from Scott Thomas, Design Director of the Obama campaign — the project’s goal is “to collect and organize all the symbols that form our language into one easy-to-use online library that can be accessed by anyone. All the symbols on the site are completely free to download, licensed under creative commons attribution (or are already in the public domain) and can be used for design projects, architecture presentations, art pieces — just about anything.”

The project was wildly successful gaining Kickstarter funding this month, making a very nice holiday gift for us all.

I would appreciate it if someone could explain to me how to download an image from thenounproject in some form that is NOT an svg document and therefore unusable, at least as far as I can tell…
    Thanks in advance!
    Great link!

Roberta, open The Noun Project .svg download files with a vector program like Adobe Illustrator and you can do just about anything you want with the file content.

    Hope this helps!

    Dear Roberta:
Thank you for asking this question.

I, too, experienced the same frustration.

    Now, I’m happy!

I am also having  trouble opening the file & don’t have access to Adobe Illustrator. Is there an open source software that could be used? I work in a school building and would like students to access the graphics for projects. Too bad it can be as easy as click, copy, paste
